Hamlet Heavy Timberwork is a timber framing company dedicated to building inspired heavy timber structures.

From traditional medieval-style homes to contemporary heavy timber structures, our focus is on craftsmanship and good design.

Having spent several years in Europe building and studying timber frames in the medieval style, we now incorporate what we learned into the homes we build here. We have also studied Canadian, American & Japanese traditions, which gives us a broad repertoire of styles to choose from when designing your home, as everyone's tastes are different.

The Kerriou Residence:
4500 square feet, Trebeurden, Brittany, France

This white oak timber frame was raised on the north coast of Brittany during one of the windiest weeks of 2007. The frame is based on a traditional French design traditionally found in the region, and incorporates a timber framed oak staircase, complete with mortice & tenoned handrails and wedged treads. The site is spectacular and looks out over the “Pink Granite Coast”, famous for its beautiful outcroppings of rose coloured granite, used as a building material throughout Britanny. Many thanks to our clients Yannick & Kirstie for their faith, vision & great hospitality.
