Murray Elliott – Co-Owner
Murray grew up surrounded with wood and tools, so it’s only natural that he would eventually make it his vocation. He spent the last 3 years learning traditional carpentry in Europe. Before that he worked in both rough and finish carpentry trades in Western Canada and Germany, and here in Montreal. |
Daniel Addey-Jibb – Co-Owner
Dan has a potent love and respect for carpentry. Since early 1997 his quest for knowledge, experience and fine old tools has taken him to Europe where he worked in Scotland, England, Wales, Ireland, Romania, and Norway. |
Mike McKelvey – Timber framer / Straw baler
Mike came to us after spending several years building straw-bale homes. In addition to this, he is a talented carpenter and quickly becoming an excellent timber framer. His thirst for knowledge and experience in traditional crafts have created an exciting two-way exchange in ideas and techniques. |
Patrick Paquet – Timber framer
Patrick has joined our team after recently graduating from L'École des métiers de la construction de Montréal, a one year intensive carpentry program offered in Montreal. He soon showed us that he was a talented carpenter who is serious about learning the craft, and hopes to further his development by working in Europe in the near future. |

| Richard Price - Timber Framer / Rock Climber
Richard joined the Hamlet team in early 2005, having survived a three month intensive apprenticeship with renowned English timber framer (and older brother) Paul Price. Paul gave him a set of framing chisels as a going away gift on the condition that he could keep them if he used them - well looks like he gets to keep them Paul! |
Chris Law - Timber Framer / Cabinet Maker
Chris helped us out on several raisings before joining us full time in the summer of 2005. He received his training from the Algonquin College carpentry program in Ontario with a focus on cabinet work. In addition to timber framing full time, he has been getting ‘schooled’ on the Hamlet basketball court quite a bit as well – sorry Chris, NO foul. |

Visiting Carpenters
Florent Moinet - Visiting French carpenter 2006 - 2007 |
Adrien Thube - Visiting French carpenter 2005 - 2006 Hailing from the city of Reims in France, Adrien joined us in April of 2005. He has quickly proven himself as a solid timber framer. He is also a bit of a performer as he treated us to a rousing rendition of the Compagnon's Song from the top of the last frame we raised. |
Nicolas Cabon - Visiting French carpenter 2004 - 2005 Nicolas came to us again from the Compagnons du Devoir, and was a tremendous help during our projects. We even had to lend him out to a local general contractor who wanted to make use of his wide repertoire of skills. |
Benjamin Hinniger - Visiting French carpenter 2004 We first worked with Benjamin several years ago during our time in Scotland. Having received his training from Les Compagnons du Devoir in France, Benjamin brought a wealth of skill and techniques with him. He has spent the last 2 years working for himself in French Polynesia. |
