Murray grew up surrounded with wood and tools, so it’s only natural that he would eventually make it his vocation. Before learning traditional carpentry in Europe, he worked in both rough and finish carpentry trades in Western Canada and Germany, and here in Montreal.
Daniel Addey-JibbCo-Owner
Dan has a potent love and respect for carpentry. Since early 1997 his quest for knowledge, experience and fine old tools has taken him to Europe where he worked in Scotland, England, Wales, Ireland, Romania, and Norway.
Francois Charlebois
Hailing from Vaudreuil-Dorion, and one of the original inventors of Caribou, Francois has over 25 years experience in custom door and window production. He's now into timber framing and brings a vicious hip check to Hamlet's thursday night hockey games.
Emmanuel d'Avezac
Emmanuel joins our team from the famous wine producing region of Bordeaux, France. He brings with him a wealth of experience in heavy timber construction, including conservation work. His nickname is Manu. Just don't call him Minou, because clearly, he is not a cat.
Simon Lohoar
Hailing from Inverness, Scotland, Simon brings his old world skills and funny accent to Quebec. Having studied Conservation at the Glasgow Metropolitan College, Simon spent two years working for renowned Carpenter Oak & Woodland at their Scottish framing yard – the same yard Daniel & Murray worked at during their stay in Europe.
Pat Moore
Pat joins us from Kingston, Ontario, and has recently completed BOTH the heritage carpentry and masonry programs at Algonquin college in Perth, Ontario.
Visiting Carpenters
Florent Moinet - Visiting French carpenter 2006 - 2007
The mighty Flo-Jo as he was known at Hamlet. A very talented French carpenter who was even more adept at making omelettes during our morning breaks. Hailing from Brittany, it was a great homecoming to have the local boy on site for our raising in Brittany, France.
Adrien Thube - Visiting French carpenter 2005 - 2006
Hailing from the city of Reims in France, Adrien joined us in April of 2005. He has quickly proven himself as a solid timber framer. He is also a bit of a performer as he treated us to a rousing rendition of the Compagnon's Song from the top of the last frame we raised.
Nicolas Cabon - Visiting French carpenter 2004 - 2005
Nicolas came to us again from the Compagnons du Devoir, and was a tremendous help during our projects. We even had to lend him out to a local general contractor who wanted to make use of his wide repertoire of skills.
Benjamin Hinniger - Visiting French carpenter 2004
We first worked with Benjamin several years ago during our time in Scotland. Having received his training from Les Compagnons du Devoir in France, Benjamin brought a wealth of skill and techniques with him. He has spent the last 2 years working for himself in French Polynesia.
