18th Century Rabeau House

We became involved in this historic structure through the building heritage and parks department of the City of Montreal. The goal was to remove the original historic roof that was unstable and in poor condition, and build a new one that faithfully reproduced the original design. We were not able to re-use many of the original pieces as their size did not satisfy modern building codes. However, the central ridge section and some of the diagonal struts were saved and framed into the new roof. It was raised on top of the 230 year old stone walls over a day and a half at the end of March.
