The Campbell residence

Between June 13 and 16th, 2005 a 2000 square foot mixed species frame was erected just near the small town of Delta Ontario, about 30 minutes west of Brockville. The frame is mixture of several species native to Ontario, and employs various styles within the overall design.

The frame is made up of three distinct sections: a dining wing, a great room and a bedroom wing. The bedroom wing has the simplest timber frame design, while the dining wing and great room are more elaborate. The great room is the showpiece, employing a medieval style crown-post roof, inspired by 14th century roofs in eastern England. The crown-post itself is a heavily moulded and carved solid piece of oak, rarely seen in modern building work – and not something we have the chance to do very often.
