EUSTIS COVERED BRIDGE RESTORATION - Waterville, Quebec
The Eustis covered bridge in Waterville, Quebec (Near Sherbrooke) was built in 1908. It is one of only three multiple king-post truss covered bridges left in Quebec. The bridge has been closed to vehicular traffic for many years, after a botched restoration over a decade ago caused it to develop an alarming sag.
After the Ministry of Transport took over responsibility for all covered bridges still in use - and considerable lobbying from local residents - this bridge was earmarked for a complete restoration during the summer of 2011. |
